Wallets

A Complete Guide to Wallets and Withdrawals

Do I need a wallet to play Arc8?

No. You can enjoy Arc8 without ever setting up a wallet. However, there are situations when you may decide you want to create a wallet:
  • You win tokens in a Lucky Event. You don't need a personal wallet to win tokens in a Lucky Event – every Arc8 player is automatically given an Arc8 Pay wallet. However, if you want to take out the tokens you won, then you will need a wallet.
  • You want to play in the Arc8 League. This League is a special web3 (blockchain) League, and entry to it requires an Arc8 League Pass, which is an NFT. Also, rewards in the Arc8 League are cryptocurrencies and NFTs, so you will need a wallet to claim your rewards.

I'm new to wallets/crypto/NFTs – what do I have to do?

Firstly, welcome on board! This FAQ page on wallets will guide you step-by-step through the process of creating your first blockchain wallet and pairing it with Arc8!
This will allow you to withdraw what you've won, or get GMEE that you can use to make purchases in the webshop or buy an Arc8 League Pass.
If you are completely new, the process you will follow will look something like this: Create a personal wallet on MetaMask (Chrome/Firefox) -->Connect your wallet to the Polygon network --> Pair your wallet with Arc8 pay --> PLAY! Don't worry if that sounds confusing at the moment. Everything you need to do that is listed below in this guide, and these three steps are covered in the Beginner's Guide section. But first, let's start with a look at the different kinds of wallets.

What are wallets? What are they used for?

Here are the types of wallets you will see referenced in the Arc8 app, here on the GAMEE Wiki, and elsewhere.
  • Personal Blockchain Wallet This is your personal digital wallet. You can store, trade and manage all your cryptocurrencies and NFTs here. There are many free blockchain wallets you can get, such as MetaMask and TrustWallet. When you create this wallet, you are given a personal key to access it that you should keep somewhere safe, and never reveal to anyone. You can safely connect your personal blockchain wallet to various other places and services as long as you never reveal this personal key to anybody. Think of it as the key to your safe. Blockchain operates on different networks (such as Polygon or Ethereum) and your personal wallet can handle all of it! You can easily bridge (ie. transfer) your cryptocurrency to another network in your wallet. For your reference, Arc8 works on the Polygon network, and you will see this guide mentions it a lot. You don't need to understand how networks work; just keep in mind that Arc8 uses Polygon. If you want to create your own personal Blockchain Wallet, we strongly recommend MetaMask; the rest of this guide will help you specifically with connecting a MetaMask wallet. (There's more info on creating your own wallet later in this guide!)
  • Arc8 Wallet The Arc8 Wallet is what is known as a custodial wallet. That means that somebody else is in charge of keeping your cryptocurrency tokens safe (in this case, us!) and they can set their own rules about which tokens they accept. To use an analogy, if your personal wallet is a safe you keep in a cupboard at home (and put whatever you want in it!) then a custodial wallet is like a safe kept in the bank. Your tokens are safe in a custodial wallet, but you only have permission to send or receive tokens, nothing else. Also, some providers (such as Kucoin, for instance) might decide not to whitelist certain tokens, meaning if you send the wrong tokens there, they may be gone forever. The Arc8 wallet accepts many kinds of Polygon tokens and NFTs, including of course GMEE, G-Bots and our various partner tokens. However, never send anything there except GMEE or G-bots or it may disappear. Also note that you personally may choose never to use this wallet – some people like to buy GMEE using the Arc8 wallet, while others prefer to use their own wallet. It's your call! There are instructions for both these options in this guide, though the Beginners Guide assumes you want to create your own wallet.
  • Arc8 Pay Wallet A downside of crypto wallets is they don't always transfer funds immediately. That's why we have Arc8 Pay. Tokens in Arc8 pay are effectively 'virtual' and are a representation of the GMEE you own. If you win GMEE or partner tokens in Lucky Events, this is where your funds are stored. When you withdraw funds to either your Arc8 wallet or personal wallet, you receive actual tokens of that value.

Beginner's Guide

Now we understand wallets a little better, and why we need them, we're ready to set up our own wallet, pair it to Polygon and Arc8 and then play! Here are the three steps to take if you want to withdraw what you've earned in the app or buy GMEE.

Step 1: I want to create my first personal blockchain wallet. What do I do?

There are a variety of free personal blockchain wallets on offer, but if you want to follow this guide to set everything up then we suggest getting a MetaMask wallet. However, it's entirely up to you as you can connect and pair many kinds of wallets thanks to Arc8's use of WalletConnect software. But for the sake of simplicity, here's a guide on creating one kind of wallet.
  • Visit MetaMask.io on Chrome or Firefox and follow the steps there to create your wallet. You will be given a key at some point that you should write down somewhere private, ideally in more than one place, and ideally offline or at least encrypted. Don't lose it, and never share this key with anybody for any reason at all.
  • When you have set up your wallet, install the MetaMask extension for your browser. Now you're ready to connect with the Polygon network!

Step 2: How do I connect my personal MetaMask wallet with the Polygon network?

If you've successfully set up your personal wallet on MetaMask, then well done, you're almost finished! The final step before pairing your wallet to Arc8 pay is to pair your wallet with the Polygon network. Don't worry – it's an easy process. Here's what you have to do:
  • If you don't already have the MetaMask extension for your browser (Firefox or Google Chrome), get that first on the MetaMask website.
  • In the MetaMask extension, click on the tab that says Main Ethereum Network.
  • Scroll down and click Add Network.
  • Enter the following details:
  • Click Save and you're done! Now you're ready to pair it with Arc8 Pay!
  • Note that transactions on the Polygon network require MATIC, which will be used as a "gas fee". You won't need a lot, and you can buy it on Binance and get discounts on trading fees.

Step 3: How do I pair my personal wallet with Arc8 pay?

  • Go to app.gamee.com and log in to your Arc8 account.
  • Where it says 'Connected wallet', click pair. Or, use the WalletConnect option and connect and pair your personal wallet. Note it is important to make sure you pair the wallet (not only connect) in order to receive partner tokens earned in Lucky Events as otherwise we cannot see your wallet address.
  • If not using WalletConnect, you will be asked to provide the address of your connected wallet. If you are using a browser extension (such as the Metamask extension on Firefox), a notification window will pop up asking you to digitally sign it to give permission to pair it. (Note that this may open in a small window in the background, or another tab.)
  • When you have given permission, your wallet will be paired and you will be able to transfer funds between Arc8 pay and your wallet in either direction! -----------------------------------------

How do I buy GMEE?

If you want to buy GMEE, you can do so on the website. Visit app.gamee.com and log in. The easiest and fastest way is to buy it for your Arc8 wallet. To do this, simply click Buy for cash on the Arc8 wallet section and enter the payment details that are requested.
Alternatively, you can buy GMEE for your personal wallet on a number of exchanges. For instance, to buy GMEE on Polygon network (the network you need for Arc8) you can:
  • Swap MATIC for GMEE on QuickSwap
  • Trade Polygon GMEE with USDT on Digifinex
For a more comprehensive list, check out this article on where to buy GMEE for your personal wallet.

How do I withdraw GMEE from Arc8 Pay to my wallet?

  • Navigate to the the wallet section of the Arc8 application, and click withdraw. This button has a small arrow icon. You will be asked to give your wallet address and can then withdraw it. However, there are three important things to remember:
  1. 1.
Make sure the wallet address you provide is for either your personal wallet or Arc8 wallet –– some other custodial wallets (eg. Kucoin) will not recognise GMEE and it will be impossible – or at least extremely difficult – to get it back. In the event that you have accidentally sent your GMEE to a custodial wallet that does not recognise it, contact that organization's customer support.
  2. 2.
If it is your personal wallet, make sure that it supports the Polygon network. (You may want to first follow the guide above on 'How do I pair my wallet with the Polygon network?') If you send GMEE to a wallet that does not support Polygon, it may be lost forever.
  3. 3.
There is a minimum withdrawal of 50 GMEE and a cost of 5 GMEE. There is also a 24 hour processing time. You can check the status of your withdrawal in the wallet section of the Arc8 app, where a timer displays how long is left of the 24 hour wait time.

Where is my private key for my Arc8 wallet?

As mentioned earlier, the Arc8 wallet is a custodial wallet, which means you do not have a private key for it. This wallet exists so that players can jump right into the action and buy GMEE for their Arc8 wallet if they don't yet have a personal wallet. Not everybody uses it, and you can simply withdraw directly from Arc8 Pay to your personal wallet if you prefer, or deposit from your personal wallet directly to Arc8 Pay.

Can I send GMEE from my Arc8 wallet to my personal wallet?

Yes. Navigate to the wallet section of the Arc8 app and click 'Withdraw' on your Arc8 wallet. This option will only be visible if you have funds in that wallet. You can then enter the address of your personal wallet and send it there. Alternatively, you can do this on app.gamee.com by logging in to your account, click 'Withdraw' on the Arc8 wallet section and entering the address of your personal wallet. Remember to first make sure that your personal wallet is on the Polygon network.

My GMEE is on Ethereum. Can I send it to Polygon?

Yes! Just make sure you have followed the earlier steps on how to pair your MetaMask wallet with the Polygon network. After that, here is what you need to do:
  • Go to https://wallet.matic.network/bridge/, select your wallet and approve the contract.
  • Now you will see your funds on the Polygon network. At the top of the list, click Move funds from Ethereum to Polygon.
  • Select your GMEE on Ethereum, choose the amount you want to bridge to Polygon, and then click Transfer. Approve the transaction and it's done – now you have GMEE on Polygon.

How can I see/withdraw other tokens that I have in my Arc8 Pay wallet?

As Arc8 is sometimes host to Token Takeovers, where you can win our partners' tokens in tournaments, you may have other tokens (REVV, QUICK, etc.) in your Arc8 Pay wallet. Here is how to see your balance in those tokens, and how to withdraw them to your personal wallet: To see your other token balance:
  • Go to the wallet section of the Arc8 app.
  • Tap the number that indicates your Arc8 Pay balance.
  • You will now have the option to see what other token balances you have in the Arc8 Pay wallet.
To withdraw other tokens:
  • Follow the same process as you would for withdrawing GMEE. However, when you are on the screen where you select how much you want to withdraw, click the small arrow next to your GMEE balance and choose another token before you click withdraw. It is recommended that you send partner tokens to your personal wallet; not your Arc8 Wallet. Never send MATIC to your Arc8 Wallet – it may be lost forever.
